Well done to the 132 children who got a 100% Attendance Award for Term One
WHY WE REWARD AND CELEBRATE 100% ATTENDANCE?
Rewarding and celebrating 100% attendance is rooted in the strong link between attendance and achievement.
According to Department for Education (DfE) data, pupils with higher attendance consistently achieve better outcomes. For example, DfE figures show that pupils who miss more than 10% of school time are significantly less likely to achieve expected standards in key subjects compared to those with full attendance.
Benefits for Preparing for Life:
- Reliability and Commitment: Good attendance builds habits of punctuality and responsibility—skills employers value highly.
- Resilience and Routine: Regular attendance helps pupils develop resilience and maintain routines, which are essential for success in further education and employment.
- Maximising Learning Opportunities: Every day in school matters; consistent attendance ensures pupils access the full curriculum and social development opportunities.
Recognising Challenges: We understand that illness and genuine health issues can make 100% attendance difficult. Our approach is not about penalising sickness but about promoting the importance of being in school whenever possible. By celebrating those who achieve full attendance, we set a positive example while continuing to support pupils who face unavoidable absences.
How we also recognise that it is tricky: We start fresh at the begining of every term. So everyone is back to 0 from the start of next term and gets the chance to be part of the 100% for the Spring Term.
100% all year: All of the children who got 100% in Term 1 will now move forward to the 100% for Term 2 and hopefully then to Term 3 and the whole school year. This number will however be much smaller- and the reward will be bigger!!
