Welcome to Year 3
We have really enjoyed spending time with our new classes today.
It has been a great first day back and really lovely to see so many happy smiley faces.
General information
Start of the school day: Children can enter the school building from 8:40. They must go straight to their class and be in school no later than 8:50.
End of the school day: Parents come into playground at 3:15.
Children need to bring to school:
Please bring a named water bottle every day! A rain/warm coat when the weather requires it. Please don’t bring toys. Children can bring a healthy snack such as a piece of fruit to eat at playtime! If you would like your child to have milk, please contact the office.
PE Days and Kit:
Marlin Class have PE lessons on Mondays and Thursdays
Manatee have PE lessons on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Children need to wear their PE kit to school on these days. Children can wear: black shorts or tracksuit bottoms; a t-shirt, polo shirt or other suitable top in their house colour *Pacific = Yello, Atlantic = Green, Artic = Red, Indian = Blue; Trainers or plimsols. As the weather gets colder children may need warmer clothes such as a tracksuit top and bottoms or a hoodie. Long Hair needs to be tied back for PE, no jewellery should be worn (studs can be covered with plasters).
Reading:
In year 3 we ask children to try to read every day or as often as possible with someone else (adult or sibling). This is really important as becoming a confident reader helps children with their learning in all areas of the curriculum.
Please support your child to develop their understanding of new vocabulary and the text they are reading by asking them questions and getting them to explain their thinking.
Home Learning:
We will send out information about Topic Activities later in the term. Children will soon be given their passwords for Rollama, Timestable Rockstars and Purple Mash so they can access these from home.
Below are links to these and other online learning resources and games which children can access at home.
What will my child be learning about?
We learn about some fantastic topics in Year 3. We will be uploading our Autumn Term Topic web soon.
As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
