SCHOOL GARDEN

At Fairlight we feel it is important for our children to have access to a garden. Many children do not have access to a garden at home but also it gives us a chance to learn all about plants, the environment, life cycles and so much more.

It is also a really nice "oasis of calm" in our playground.

Our School Garden has been through many different stages.

It is called Wise Owls Garden in honor of Hazel Varah- former Chair of Governor and Freelance Artist and key member of Same Sky. Hazel used to run a book sale in the garden after school and we felt it would be a lovely way to remember this by naming the garden after her.

Today the garden in maintained by a small team of parents who keep it looking amazing.

Below are some before and after images of the garden.

We have been supported by One Garden https://www.onegardenbrighton.com/

One garden provided many plants, woodchip & advice on positioning and care.

Their Head Gardener Pete came to visit the garden and was very impressed with our garden.

He said it was one of the best school gardens he has seen!
