Lucy has finished her Indian project, her Mandala stone looks amazing! Look at the information that Lucy sent me on Mandala stones and how she painted her stone. She also sent me two pictures so we can see what it looks like. Thank you Lucy xx

Mandala stones

The word mandala comes from the Sanskrit language and means circle.

They have been made by Native Americans & Tibetans and can be found in many other cultures.

Hindus and Buddhists use them as meditation aids.

Today the word mandala can refer to any geometric pattern inspired by these ancient symbols.

For my project I have made a double-sided mandala stone. Before I painted the mandala, I planned and practiced the pattern. I used a paintbrush for the central black circle and dotting tools to create the rest of the pattern, starting in the centre and working to the outside.

Natalia has also finished her Indian project! Look at her amazing work below!

Natalias Mum said that Natalia decided to paint six pictures of Hindu symbols. A Bengal tiger, a cow that is a considered holy, a peacock and an elephant as they are both very popular animals in India.  She also drew two famous landmarks in India The Taj Mahal and The Ganges River with people taking a bath. She said that Natalia made all of these pictures by herself and she put a lot of work into it. She also had a lot of fun.

Joseph found some cow dung shaped like a doughnut so he flipped it over and found some fire ant larvae. He learnt about the differences between red and black ants and an ant's life cycle.
